WHEN "JUST MARKETING" SILENCES A CREATIVE MIND










There’s a moment every creative remembers the exact second their mind goes quiet.

For me, it wasn’t a lack of talent. It wasn’t laziness. It wasn’t even burnout in the dramatic sense.
It was being hired as a Digital Marketing Manager… and reporting on the ground as everything else.



The Interview Promise vs. The Reality on the Ground

On paper, the role was clear:
Digital Marketing Manager. Strategy. Growth. Brand visibility. Creative leadership.

On the ground?
My job description quietly shape-shifted.

I was expected to:
Fill in invoices
Handle walk-in clients
Respond to WhatsApp messages on two different phones
Create content
Post the content
Track trends
Build content calendars
Come up with new ideas—daily
And still “think creatively”

Somewhere in between replying “Hello, how can we help you?” and reconciling figures, my creativity packed its bags and left.

Many clients underestimate digital marketing because:

When clients pile unrelated tasks onto a digital marketer, they don’t gain efficiency they lose brilliance.

The client wanted to be involved in everything.
Every caption.
Every idea.
Every post.
Every decision.

No trust. No autonomy. No breathing room.

Here’s the truth many businesses avoid:
You cannot hire expertise and then micromanage it into mediocrity.

Growth slows when:
Creativity is dictated
Professionals aren’t trusted

If you feel mentally blocked, fatigued, and uninspired—it might not be you.

Sometimes your creativity isn’t gone.
It’s just buried under roles you were never hired to carry.

Protect your mind.
Set boundaries.
Your skill is valuable, and it deserves room to breathe.

It’s the voice of a brand, the bridge to its audience, and the engine behind modern growth.

Treat it lightly—and you’ll get light results.
