WHEN "JUST MARKETING" SILENCES A CREATIVE MIND

There’s a moment every creative remembers the exact second their mind goes quiet. For me, it wasn’t a lack of talent. It wasn’t laziness. It wasn’t even burnout in the dramatic sense. It was being hired as a Digital Marketing Manager… and reporting on the ground as everything else. The Interview Promise vs. The Reality on the Ground On paper, the role was clear: Digital Marketing Manager. Strategy. Growth. Brand visibility. Creative leadership. On the ground? My job description quietly shape-shifted. I was expected to: • Fill in invoices • Handle walk-in clients • Respond to WhatsApp messages on two different phones • Create content • Post the content • Track trends • Build content calendars • Come up with new ideas—daily • And still “think creatively” Somewhere in between replying “Hello, how can we help you?” and reconciling figures, my creativity packed its bags and left. Welcome, my friends, to the place where only the bold survive, the witty thrive, and the weak… well, let’s just say the weak are usually the ones Googling “how to quit gracefully” at 3 a.m. on a Wednesday. Let’s be real: corporate life isn’t for the faint-hearted. It’s a jungle. A jungle with PowerPoint slides instead of vines and TPS reports instead of trees.
